British Mathematics Olympiad (BMO) Tutor

Remote Position

We are looking for highly experienced educators to guide the UK's brightest mathematics students through the rigorous British Mathematics Olympiad (BMO). You will help them navigate the struggle of unfamiliar, highly advanced problems and prepare them for elite BMO qualification.

Essential Requirements

  • Advanced Teaching Experience: Extensive experience teaching very bright mathematics students, probably at Further Maths A-Level or IB Higher Level Analysis.
  • BMO Expertise: Experience running maths clubs that support students with British Mathematics Olympiad preparation. Potentially, experience participating in the British Maths Olympiad yourself.
  • Evening Availability: You are available to work flexible hours between 5pm - 8pm on weekdays. This requires a minimum weekly commitment within these peak times.

About The Role

  • Context-Driven Teaching: We don't front-load dense theorems. We teach in context when it's needed. We give students problems they can almost solve, and introduce advanced concepts as the critical missing insight.
  • Small Group Mentorship: You will manage groups of 4-6 students, fostering a culture where they collaborate, share ideas, and celebrate mistakes.
  • Advanced Mathematics: You must be extremely comfortable with the advanced content of the British Mathematics Olympiad, including complex geometry, number theory, and combinatorics.
